New Site

blogstory

I'm transitioning from a custom ReactJS site to Hugo. My previous hand-built site was primarily a learning exercise, with self-designed styling and a Firebase-backed blogging system.

The old site

I've decided that I should just embrace the fact that I really kind of suck at Front-end work. The experience wasn't wasted, though.

Old site blog

Key Changes

Previous setup:

  • Custom ReactJS with Firebase database pulling content for dynamic rendering

New approach:

  • Hugo static site generator with AWS Amplify deployment to CloudFront
  • Workflow: Markdown files → Git commit/push → automated pipeline publishes to CDN

Philosophy

I'm embracing a core philosophy of mine, which is to value simplicity. The new deployment process is straightforward and efficient.
